In Poker, the Rake is the house fee that is charged to the game on a per hand basis. Usually, this fee is taken directly out of the pot as the bets.

No matter how local ordinances differ, if you take a rake or a time charge or accept money for running the game in any way, then you are.

The rake, the money the casino takes in exchange for letting you play, is a key determining factor of whether or not any game is potentially.

house poker game rake

Last edited by xxbobbyzxx; at PM. Their place? More cash on the table, less rake, etc. Originally Posted by Mattyspin. And there are ways to make it legal to run a game, but that is a secret. We had this issue in a previous thread and it is seriously important wording. The rest? I was the guy who got rockets on the first hand and lost a good bit of my stack. That's my choice. That would be your choice. You're paying for my TV? It's your game, and if people show up, then why lower it. Shoot, last week I ordered Indian food for all the players, and we stood around and ate together for 15 mins. Originally Posted by GFunk Because he screwed up, not the OP here. Think it's far off? No less than a couple weeks ago, we had a guy post this So when a guy posts Last edited by Lottery Larry; at PM. I want you all to step back for a second and think about the last time you ate with your family , much less the big blind? Just glad that not everyone thinks nearly like you do, regarding the experience.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} Kind of you. But a vast majority of those that do, return. Originally Posted by SManiac. And often for reasons that have little to do with money. Guy's actually a friend of mine God bless him, he does well. Know what they charge? You're absolutely right that you can rake at whatever rate you want. This is a guy who's running a casino from the cheapest place he could rent. It honestly seems like he's putting in decent work in terms of offering services. Very frustrating. If I knew that I'd get lower rake for playing there frequently, that might get me back in the door. I think I'd just rather be at a less legal, less nice club if it's a more profitable situation.. If profit was my goal, there's a place in Gramercy that has wayyy more players than me, 2 tables, starts at 4pm, and action that would make you vomit it gets so crazy in there. MasterA, how would you ever translate this as anything but what it says? I still just don't know if all of this would be worthwhile. Your reasons are your own, theirs are their own, and theirs are poker-related, which is what this website deals with. Originally Posted by Lottery Larry. Just my thoughts. Um, there really isn't much "less legal" than what is going on. It's in a basement, next to a laundry room with no windows and Dominos for dinner. Bobby, I was at your game a couple weeks ago. Why do I play there? You make good points regarding the travel and the nice accomodations you offer, but rationalizing your absurdly high rake by saying that you've seen other games with similar rakes is silly and immaterial to the issue at hand. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Friend of mine just started up a "home game" by renting out a 1br in midtown solely to hold a game. Also the fact you get into all kinds of weird legal issues and all that jazz. Originally Posted by The Palimax. Sometimes there's a dealer, sometimes he deals and plays. That's fine I have spent well into 5 figures creating it, building a list to over people, getting it started, and keeping it going So I can make tons of cash? When the game is shorthanded, it's not unreasonable to lower the rake. A loyal clientele is always a good thing. Originally Posted by JadamLI. So at this point you are simply looking at a horizontal move to a more fair "rake" since the benefits aren't as important. Need a ruling on the rape level. I paid for my TV. All locals, middle of nowhere brooklyn. He's putting a decent amount of effort into it, getting a nice table, flat screen TV, all that stuff I guess the problem is that I really don't need all that stuff.. I'd have to say you're not really overpaying at this place, but game selection is certainly limited there. Shorthanded just isn't a very fun raking. Just to be clear, I'm not demanding things, or anything like that. I really think he should look into a dealer though. He has soda, beer, orders sandwiches and pizza, but it usually tops out at about 6 people.
